INDONESIA EYES IDR134 TRILLION FROM MINERALS AND COAL IN 2026
Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set a revenue target of IDR 134 trillion (US$7.9 billion) from the mineral and coal sector for 2026, higher than the IDR 124.7 trillion target for 2025. Despite plans to reduce coal and nickel production next year, ESDM Director General of Minerals and Coal Tri Winarno said the target is achievable due to rising global prices for key commodities such as tin, nickel, and gold. He added that strengthened supervision, improved governance, and alternative strategies to anticipate potential price drops will help ensure the target is met. In 2025, non‑tax revenue from the sector already exceeded expectations, reaching IDR 138.37 trillion, compared to the IDR 127.44 trillion target. The government previously announced that coal production will be reduced to around 600 million tons in 2026, down from 790 million tons in 2025, in an effort to stabilize global commodity prices. Global coal trade stands at approximately 1.3 billion tons annually, with Indonesia contributing about 514 million tons. Nickel production will also be reduced, though the exact scale has not been finalized. Overall revenue from the ESDM sector in 2025 reached IDR 243.41 trillion, slightly below the target of IDR 255.5 trillion.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/400610/indonesia-eyes-rp134-trillion-from-minerals-and-coal-in-2026?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
