UK VISIT: INDONESIA GAINS IDR90 TRILLION MARITIME INVESTMENT COMMITMENT

The Indonesian government announced that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the United Kingdom resulted in an investment commitment worth IDR 90 trillion, focused on strengthening Indonesia’s maritime sector through the construction of 1,500 fishing boats. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said this investment follows earlier bilateral discussions and is strategic, given that most of Indonesia’s territory consists of ocean. The initiative is expected to improve fishermen’s welfare and boost national fish‑based protein production, which remains relatively low. In addition to vessel procurement, the cooperation includes the development and modernization of around 100 fishing villages equipped with piers, cold storage, and fuel facilities. The government also plans to manage marine catch through cooperative schemes, ensuring that foreign investment has a direct impact on community livelihoods. All efforts align with President Prabowo’s agenda to strengthen economic independence and reinforce national economic fundamentals.Source: https://voi.id/en/economy/553063  (ICE GIACARTA)
