INDONESIA IN THE GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT: IMF PRAISES RESILIENCE, CALLS FOR BOLD REFORM
The IMF on Thursday (22/1) praised Indonesia as a bright spot in a volatile global economy, citing strong growth, controlled inflation, and sound fiscal and monetary management. In its 2025 Article IV Consultation, the IMF projected GDP growth of 5.0% in 2025 and 5.1% in 2026, with inflation well anchored and external balances remaining manageable. It commended Indonesia’s fiscal discipline and recent monetary easing, while stressing the need for coordinated, data-driven policies to preserve credibility and stability. At the same time, the IMF urged bold structural reforms—particularly in deregulation, trade openness, education, digital infrastructure, and the energy transition—to unlock higher productivity and private sector-led growth. The IMF concluded that with disciplined policies and ambitious reforms, Indonesia could achieve its high-income ambitions and strengthen its role in the global economy.Source: https://asiatoday.id/read/indonesia-in-the-global-spotlight-imf-praises-resilience-calls-for-bold-reforms (ICE GIACARTA)
