Bakrie Group–listed energy company PT Energi Mega Persada (ENRG) announced a major new oil discovery through its subsidiary PT Imbang Tata Alam (ITA) in the Malacca Strait Working Area, Riau. Early evaluations revealed productive hydrocarbon layers in the Upper Sihapas Formation, with an estimated net pay of 80 feet and an initial flow test of 350 barrels per day, indicating strong reservoir quality. The find is interpreted as a stratigraphic trap, opening new exploration opportunities. Preliminary estimates place the Original Oil in Place (OOIP) at around 31 million barrels, with broader seismic assessments suggesting the field may contain more than 76 million barrels of oil. ENRG plans to boost production by an additional 1,000–1,500 barrels per day through drilling six new development wells, while preparing the next exploration campaign in coordination with SKK Migas to finalize the MSTB‑NW structure development concept. Alongside this discovery, the company has issued the first phase of its Shelf Registration Bonds I 2025, targeting up to Rp4 trillion, with proceeds allocated to debt repayment and working capital.
