MRT JAKARTA PARTNERS WITH SEVEN DEVELOPERS FOR EAST-WEST PHASE 2 LINE
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is partnering with seven private developers to advance the construction of the East–West MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Line Phase 2, which will stretch from Kembangan (West Jakarta) to Balaraja (Tangerang District, Banten). According to President Director Tuhiyat, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed as an initial step for exploration and feasibility assessments, marking the developers’ early involvement along the planned route. The company is also considering a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) scheme to share risks and overcome budget limitations, with expectations that this collaboration will improve financing efficiency and accelerate project delivery. Business Development Director Farchad Mahfud added that the 29.9‑km Kembangan–Balaraja extension, part of the broader East–West Line (Phase 3/Phase 2 West), is targeted to begin construction around 2026 as part of Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (PSN). The expansion aims to ease congestion caused by commuter flows from surrounding cities including Tangerang, Depok, Bogor, Bekasi, and South Tangerang. The route will feature 14 stations—five in Tangerang City and nine in Tangerang District—and will be built as an elevated line, enhancing connectivity between West Jakarta and Banten while promoting integrated regional mobility.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/401854/mrt-jakarta-partners-with-seven-developers-for-east-west-phase-2-line?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
