NATIONAL EXPORTS RISE 9.1% IN 2025, REACHING JD8.694B — DOS

National exports rose by 9.1 per cent during the first 11 months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024, while re-exports increased by 8.8 per cent, the Department of Statistics (DoS) reported on Tuesday. The growth in exports coincided with a 9.7 per cent rise in imports over the January–November 2025 period. In value terms, total exports reached JD9.55 billion, including JD8.694 billion in national exports and JD856 million in re-exports. Imports during the same period amounted to JD18.938 billion.Total exports covered 50 per cent of imports, slightly below the 51 per cent coverage recorded in the corresponding period of 2024, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. In November alone, the export coverage ratio improved sharply to 60 per cent, up from 48 per cent in November 2024, an increase of 12 percentage points. On a monthly basis, total exports in November 2025 amounted to JD962 million, comprising JD888 million in national exports and JD74 million in re-exports, while imports reached JD1.592 billion.Compared with November 2024, total exports increased by 22.7 per cent, with national exports rising 24.5 per cent and re-exports up 4.2 per cent. Imports, meanwhile, declined by 1.7 per cent, leading to a 24.6 per cent reduction in the trade deficit. The DoS report noted that the growth in national exports was largely driven by higher shipments of nitrogenous and chemical fertilisers, jewellery and precious metals, pharmaceutical preparations, raw phosphate, and raw potash. These gains offset a slight decline in garment and apparel exports.Spending on imports increased for vehicles and motorcycles, jewellery and precious metals, machinery and mechanical equipment, electrical appliances, and cereals, while lower imports of crude oil and its derivatives helped contain the overall import bill.National exports to the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) rose, with a sharp surge to Syria, where exports jumped 351 per cent. Exports also increased to non-Arab Asian countries, notably India, and to EU markets, including Italy.National exports to North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries, including the US, edged down slightly. Imports increased from GAFTA countries, including Saudi Arabia, as well as from North America, non-Arab Asian countries such as China, and EU countries, particularly Germany. (ICE AMMAN)
