Air Astana to launch Almaty-Shanghai flight in late MarchKazakhstan’s airline Air Astana has announced the start of ticket sales for the new regular Almaty-Shanghai-Almaty route.Flights on this route are scheduled to begin on March 29, 2026, subject to obtaining the necessary approvals from government authorities.Flight KC281 from Almaty is scheduled to depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 19:10, arriving in Shanghai at 04:25 the following day.The return flight KC282 will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, departing from Shanghai at 05:40 and arriving in Almaty at 10:15.The flights will be operated using narrow-body Airbus A321LR aircraft. The flight duration from Almaty to Shanghai will be 6 hours and 15 minutes, and the return flight will take 7 hours and 35 minutes.The minimum round-trip fare from Almaty to Shanghai, including all fees, starts from 281,312 tenge for economy class and from 921,132 tenge for business class."The launch of the new route expands Air Astana’s presence in China, complementing existing services to Beijing, Guangzhou, Urumqi, and Sanya, and creates additional opportunities for business and leisure travel between Kazakhstan and one of Asia's largest metropolitan areas," the airline said in a press release.Air Astana, Kazakhstan's largest airline, conducted an IPO in early 2024, raising $370 million for the company and its shareholders, with the entire company valued at $847 million.
