INDONESIA’S FERTILIZER INDUSTRY REVITALIZATION TO SLASH PRICES BY 20%:
Indonesia’s Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that the fertilizer industry revitalization program, running until 2029, is expected to cut subsidized fertilizer prices by 20% and boost production by 700,000 tons without increasing the state budget burden. The program includes the inauguration of seven revitalized fertilizer plants, starting with the revamped Ammonia Plant 2 of Pupuk Indonesia in Bontang, East Kalimantan. The minister said the modernization has already improved production efficiency by about 10%, contributing to higher agricultural output, while the fertilizer sector generated IDR 132 trillion in additional profit in 2025. He emphasized the importance of timely fertilizer distribution, as delays directly affect national food production. Pupuk Indonesia President Director Rahmad Pribadi explained that Ammonia Plant 2—originally opened in 1984—was upgraded to support long-term goals of industrial resilience and food security. The revamp is expected to cut operational costs by IDR 200 billion and reduce emissions by 110,000 tons, making the facility more environmentally friendly. This modernization forms part of Pupuk Indonesia’s broader commitment to the government, with one plant already completed and three more currently under construction as part of the national strategy to strengthen fertilizer supply and support agricultural productivity.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/402102/fertilizer-industry-revitalization-to-slash-prices-by-20-minister?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
