KLIA AEROPOLIS SOLAR FARM TO CUT KLIA’S CARBON EMISSIONS BY 30 PCT IN 2027—MAHB

Sepang, 29 January 2026 – The KLIA Aeropolis photovoltaic solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS) project is expected to reduce KLIA’s carbon emissions by around 30% when fully operational in 2027, while enhancing energy resilience for the airport’s large-scale operations. Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said the initiative supports its decarbonisation strategy, progress toward Level 5 Airport Carbon Accreditation, and targets of a 20% renewable energy mix by 2030 and net-zero carbon by 2050, in line with national energy transition goals. Developed on an existing oil palm plantation without deforestation, the project also includes plans for a renewable energy centre of excellence and reflects collaboration between public and private sectors to promote more sustainable and resilient airport operations.Source - https://www.bernamabiz.com/news.php?id=2518164 (ICE KUALA LUMPUR)
