President Prabowo Subianto on 28 January 2026 inaugurated 15 members of the National Energy Council (DEN), underscoring his administration’s focus on energy sovereignty, security and self-sufficiency, with Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia appointed as the council’s executive chair. The council is tasked with accelerating implementation of the National Energy Policy and Energy Master Plan, including boosting oil production, expanding renewables and biofuels, and exploring nuclear power.
