KAZAKHSTAN-GRAIN-EXPORT-SUBSIDIES

Kazakhstan spends over 30 bln tenge to subsidize grain export transport in 2025Kazakhstan's state food company subsidized the transport costs for more than 1.7 million tonnes of wheat last year, spending over 30 billion tenge to boost exports, the company's head said Wednesday."The transport subsidy program was a significant export driver, helping grain exports top 13 million tonnes," Asylkhan Dzhuvashev told the Kazakh Grain and Logistic Forum in Almaty. Total payments under the program surpassed 30 billion tenge, offsetting transport costs for over 1.7 million tonnes of wheat shipped abroad, he said. The program has expanded the reach and reputation of Kazakh grain, he said. Wheat was shipped to Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Europe, with supplies to Azerbaijan and Georgia resumed."Previously, foreign importers associated Kazakhstan primarily with supplies of durum and high-protein (hi-pro) wheat. Now they have been convinced of the quality of standard soft wheat, the export volume of which has grown significantly," Dzhuvashev said. The program, which offers 20,000 to 30,000 tenge per tonne depending on the export route, compensates for transport costs to ports on the Azov, Black and Baltic seas, as well as to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and through China to Southeast Asia.Originally set for shipments from Jan. 1 to Sept. 1, 2025, the subsidy has been extended to Sept. 1, 2026, to maintain export momentum.
