EAEC-METALLURGY-COOPERATION

EAEU commission sets new priorities for steel industry cooperationThe Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has outlined new priorities to boost cooperation in the ferrous metallurgy sector among member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).In a recommendation adopted by its board, the EEC identified key areas for collaboration, including “stimulating domestic demand for ferrous metals and establishing new supply chains for innovative steel products within the trade bloc.”The plan also calls for “increased partnership in engineering and technology exchange,” according to the commission's press service.Further initiatives would share expertise in ore mining and enrichment, promote innovative production technologies, and encourage a shift toward low-emission processes in the industry.EEC Minister for Industry and Agriculture Goar Barseghyan said the recommendation would "deepen regional cooperation, aligning with current national priorities for the sector."The document is based on an analytical review of the EAEU's ferrous metallurgy industry and resolutions from a specialized roundtable held in May 2025.
