Oil output at Dunga field rises 7.5% in 2025 to 677,300 tonnesOil production at the Dunga field in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region rose 7.5% in 2025 from a year earlier to 677,300 tonnes, National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) said on Tuesday.Output in 2024 stood at 630,000 tonnes, while gas production in 2025 exceeded 51 million cubic meters, the company said.“The company carried out geological, technical and production measures to improve operational efficiency,” KMG said in a statement.KMG added since the acquisition of a controlling stake, the project has shown steady positive momentum and production in 2026 will proceed in line with approved plans.The Dunga oil and gas field, located in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangystau region, was discovered in 1966 and has been under full-scale development since 2007. Its geological reserves are estimated at 106 million tonnes of oil and more than 6 billion cubic meters of gas.The Dunga project operates under a production-sharing agreement signed in 1994 between Oman Oil Company Limited and the government of Kazakhstan.The stakeholders of the project are Dunga Operating GmbH (60%, Kazakhstan), Oman Oil Company Limited (20%, Oman) and PTTEP Corporation (20%, Kazakhstan). The operator of the project is Dunga Operating GmbH.In 2023, KMG acquired a 60% stake from France’s TotalEnergies, after which the operator was renamed Dunga Operating GmbH (formerly Total E&P Dunga GmbH).
