INDONESIA SETS SIGHTS ON BECOMING WORLD’S TOP 4 CERAMIC PRODUCER

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry aims to elevate the nation into the world’s top four ceramic producers by leveraging the "Asta Cita" national development vision. With an annual capacity of 650 million square meters and a workforce of 150,000, the government is bolstering the sector through strategic measures like fixed industrial gas prices (US$7 per MMBTU), mandatory quality standards (SNI), and anti-dumping duties on imports. Growth is expected to be driven by high-profile initiatives such as the "Gentengisasi" program—promoting eco-friendly clay roof tiles—and the massive Three Million Houses Project. However, the industry currently faces a critical supply chain hurdle due to a raw material moratorium in West Java, which supplies over 50% of the sector's needs. To overcome this and boost domestic consumption—which currently lags behind the ASEAN average—the Ministry is fast-tracking regional coordination and integrating Industry 4.0 technologies like digital printing. By combining these innovations with the development of the Halal industry, Indonesia seeks to secure domestic market dominance and establish itself as a formidable competitor on the global stage.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2161455/indonesia-sets-sights-on-becoming-world-s-top-4-ceramic-producer (ICE GIACARTA)
