Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou has approved 42 projects worth over 75 million euros across Greece for the creation, strengthening and modernisation of water management infrastructure in the context of the government's ongoing effort to effectively address water scarcity throughout the country. Specifically, the amount has been earmarked by the ministry's Sectoral Development Programme 2025 and concerns, among others, the creation and modernisation of desalination plants, the improvement and replacement of water supply networks and actions to make use of spring water (pipelines, high-speed refineries). The projects mainly concern the islands, where the problem of water scarcity is most acute. (ICE ATENE)
