GREECE: SALAMIS SHIPYARDS' INTERNATIONAL ROLE UPGRADED
Salamis Shipyards are entering a new phase of development and international upgrading, as reflected both by the expansion of their strategic partnerships in the field of defense shipbuilding and by their growing international presence. The recent visit of the French Minister of Defense to the Salamis facilities, combined with the long-term cooperation with the French Naval Group and the opening to the Indian market, compose a framework that highlights the upgraded role of the Greek shipyard in the European and international defense industry. The pre-equipped sections manufactured at the Salamis Shipyards are part of the FDI frigate program for the Hellenic Navy and the Marine Nationale of France, within the framework of the collaboration with Naval Group, where the Greek shipyard participates as an authorized subcontractor in the international supply chain of the French company. From 2023 to today, blocks have already been manufactured and delivered for the third Greek frigate “Formion”, which is in the final stage of construction, as well as for the second frigate of the corresponding French program. Recently, pre-equipped sections for the third French frigate FDI were also delivered, ahead of the contractual delivery time. This cooperation is accompanied by extensive transfer of know-how and technology, strengthening the capabilities of Salamis Shipyards in the production of complex and high value-added defense structures. Market players point out that these projects are a typical example of the successful integration of Greek industry into major international programs. (ICE ATENE)
