DANANTARA BREAKS GROUND ON US$7 BILLION DOWNSTREAM PROJECTS

Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara has launched the first phase of its downstream industrial program, breaking ground on six projects worth about US$7 billion (IDR118 trillion). The initiatives, spread across five locations, include aluminum processing facilities in West Kalimantan, a bioethanol plant in East Java, a biorefinery in Central Java, an integrated poultry facility in Malang, and an industrial salt plant in Gresik. These projects are central to President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda to boost value-added industries, reduce import reliance, and strengthen energy security. CEO of Dananntara, Rosan Roeslani, emphasized that the projects will generate jobs, improve industrial linkages, and support renewable energy and food security goals. Downstream investments accounted for 30% of Indonesia’s total realized investment in 2025, marking a sharp increase from the previous year. Danantara plans further initiatives, including a 3-million-ton steel plant, as part of a broader pipeline of 18 downstream projects valued at US$38.63 billion.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/from-biofuel-to-salt-danantara-breaks-ground-on-7-billion-downstream-projects (ICE GIACARTA)
