INDONESIA'S MANUFACTURING INVESTMENT RISES, 1,236 COMPANIES READY IN 2026
Indonesia's Ministry of Industry announced that 1,236 industrial companies completed construction in 2025 and are set to begin production in 2026. These firms represent new investments, expansions, and relocations, and are expected to boost Gross Domestic Product (GDP), particularly in the non-oil and gas processing sector. The ministry projects that these new operations will absorb 218,000 workers, reflecting sustainable growth in manufacturing investment. Rising imports of capital goods, especially machinery, further confirm industrial expansion and modernization, countering claims that manufacturing investment is stagnant. Looking ahead, the ministry targets manufacturing investment to exceed IDR 852.9 trillion in 2026, with major contributions from the ILMATE (metal, machinery, transport equipment, electronics) and agro-industries. The sector is projected to grow 5.51% and contribute 18.56% to national GDP, while absorbing 21.6 million workers across sub-sectors. Policies supporting downstreaming, industrial area development, and Industry 4.0 transformation are expected to sustain momentum, strengthen supply chains, and enhance Indonesia’s industrial competitiveness.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/kemenperin-investasi-manufaktur-naik-1236-perusahaan-siap-produksi-pada-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
