INDONESIA LAUNCHES INTEGRATED POULTRY DOWNSTREAMING

Indonesia has launched integrated poultry downstreaming operations in six regions—East Java, South Sulawesi, Gorontalo, East Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, and Lampung—aimed at strengthening protein self-sufficiency and stabilizing food prices. The program, initiated by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and supported by Danantara, integrates breeding, feed production, animal health, slaughterhouses, cold chains, and logistics to build a national poultry ecosystem. It is designed to support small-scale farmers while meeting rising demand, particularly for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program, which requires over a million tons of chicken meat and hundreds of thousands of tons of eggs annually. The government has allocated IDR 20 trillion in investment support through Danantara and up to IDR 50 trillion in People’s Business Credit for farmers and cooperatives. With projected annual output increases of 1.5 million tons of chicken meat and 1 million tons of eggs, the initiative is expected to create 1.46 million jobs and boost farmer incomes by IDR 81.5 trillion. Beyond economic gains, the program aims to benefit 82.9 million MBG recipients, reduce stunting, and alleviate poverty, making poultry downstreaming a cornerstone of President Prabowo Subianto’s broader downstream industrialization agenda.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2168349/indonesia-launches-integrated-poultry-downstreaming (ICE GIACARTA)
