UKRAINE’S INTERNATIONAL RESERVES HIT RECORD USD 57.7B IN JANUARY

Ukraine’s international reserves rose to a new historic high of USD 57.7 billion as of 1 February 2026, according to preliminary data from the National Bank of Ukraine. In January, reserves increased by USD 357.8 million month-on-month, primarily due to external financing that largely offset the central bank’s net foreign currency sales and the country’s FX debt repayments. The government received USD 3.1 billion via World Bank accounts, while USD 310.7 million was spent on servicing and repaying foreign currency public debt, alongside USD 171.6 million in payments to the International Monetary Fund. The NBU’s net FX sales declined by 20.7% compared to December, totaling USD 3.7 billion. At the same time, the revaluation of financial instruments added USD 1.45 billion to reserves during the month. The current reserve level is sufficient to cover about six months of future imports, supporting Ukraine’s external stability.https://bank.gov.ua/ua/news/all/mijnarodni-rezervi-zrosli-do-577-mlrd-dol-ssha-za-pidsumkami-sichnya (ICE KIEV)
