ECONOMISTS PROJECT THAT UKRAINE’S GDP WILL GROW BY 2.1% THIS YEAR AND 2.6% IN 2027.
The Institute for Economic Research, in collaboration with the German Economic Team, predicts that real GDP growth will also be 2.1% in 2026 and 2.6% in 2027. The primary drivers of this growth will be private consumption and investment activity. However, it is noted that the current account deficit is expected to increase significantly, rising from 16.2% of GDP in 2025 to 20.8% in 2026, and reaching 21.5% in 2027. This trend is attributed to stagnation in exports and a continued increase in imports.Regarding inflation, it is anticipated that the average rate will be 6.1% in 2026 and 5.7% in 2027, with year-end inflation projected at 6.2% and 5.5%, respectively. Price increases are expected to be tempered by weak consumer demand and the government’s decision to postpone household gas and heating rate increases for another year (the moratorium was originally scheduled to be lifted in Q4 2025). Furthermore, lower oil prices in 2026 are expected to help limit energy costs.http://www.ier.com.ua/ua/institute/news?pid=7866https://ubn.news/economists-project-that-ukraines-gdp-will-grow-by-2-1-this-year-and-2-6-in-2027/ (ICE KIEV)
