INDONESIAN FINANCE MINISTRY’S SMI SECURES US$9.3M GRANTS TO EXPAND GREEN FINANCE

PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), Indonesia’s state‑owned infrastructure financier, signed two grant agreements and two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international development partners during the Donor Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Feb. 4. The collaboration aims to strengthen Indonesia’s sustainable finance market, expand blended‑finance mechanisms under the SDG Indonesia One (SIO) platform and the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM), and support the national energy transition agenda. PT SMI President Director Reynaldi Hermansjah emphasized that these partnerships are crucial for achieving climate targets and ensuring a just, inclusive shift toward a green economy. The first grant agreement is a €7.82 million Green Bond Development Facility from Germany’s KfW Development Bank, designed to accelerate the growth of Indonesia’s green and sustainable bond market by improving issuer capacity and strengthening ESG implementation. The second is an extension of a grant with France’s AFD, aimed at maximizing remaining funds, continuing the Project Preparation Facility, and enhancing technical assistance delivery. Alongside these grants, PT SMI also entered into two MoUs to broaden strategic cooperation through the SIO and ETM platforms, further deepening international support for Indonesia’s sustainable infrastructure and energy‑transition initiatives.Source: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2026/02/10/finance-ministrys-smi-secures-9-3m-grants-to-expand-green-finance.html?utm_source=(direct)&utm_medium=channel_companies (ICE GIACARTA)
