UKRAINE’S ANNUAL INFLATION REACHES 7.4% IN JANUARY 2026

Ukraine’s consumer inflation reached 7.4% year-on-year in January 2026, while prices rose 0.7% month-on-month compared with December 2025, according to the State Statistics Service. Core inflation stood at 7.0% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month, indicating relatively contained underlying price pressures.Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased 0.8% in January, driven primarily by a sharp 14.7% rise in vegetable prices, alongside moderate gains in processed grain products, fruit, fish, sunflower oil, beef, dairy, bread, and soft drinks. At the same time, prices for eggs fell 7.7%, with declines also recorded for pork, butter, poultry, sugar, rice, and lard.Prices for alcohol and tobacco rose 1.1%, reflecting higher tobacco costs, while clothing and footwear became 4.8% cheaper.
