Railway transportation between Kazakhstan and Estonia doubled in 2025The volume of railway transport between Kazakhstan and Estonia in 2025 doubled, reaching 382,400 tonnes, reported the press service of the national railway carrier Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).According to the report, the head of the Kazakh railway carrier, Talgat Aldybergenov, met with the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railways), Kaido Zimmerman.Last year, the volume of railway transport between Kazakhstan and Estonia increased 2.1-fold to 382,400 tonnes. Of this, exports grew 2.6-fold, to 313,700 tonnes, while imports increased by 30.2%, to 29,700 tonnes.The heads of KTZ and Eesti Raudtee discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, focusing primarily on the integration of transport networks to optimize cargo flows between Central Asia and Europe.The parties noted the significance of utilizing Estonia's transport potential within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).The role of port infrastructure was also highlighted. KTZ notes that active involvement of Estonian ports in logistics chains will significantly increase cargo transportation volumes.KTZ is a transport and logistics company, part of the Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund. It manages railway, seaport, and airport infrastructure, as well as transport and logistics centers.Eesti Raudtee has been a state-owned enterprise since 2009. Currently, the company comprises only railway infrastructure and traffic management units. The company maintains over 1,200 km of railways.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is an international transport corridor running through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and onwards to Turkey and European countries.
