Air Astana shareholders approve purchase of 50 aircraft from AirbusShareholders of the Kazakh airline Air Astana, at an extraordinary general meeting, have approved a deal to acquire 25 Airbus-manufactured aircraft, according to a company statement.Specifically, Air Astana will acquire 5 Airbus A320N aircraft and 20 A321NX aircraft. Deliveries of the aircraft are scheduled for 2031-2034.Shareholders also approved a deal with guaranteed rights to purchase an additional 25 Airbus A320neo family aircraft.A memorandum of understanding for the delivery of up to 50 Airbus A320neo family aircraft (25 firm orders and 25 options) as part of a fleet renewal program was signed in November 2025. It was noted that this is the largest order in the airline's history.It was also reported that in November 2025, Air Astana announced the signing of a contract with Boeing Co. for the delivery of up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline's Senior Vice President, Erbolat Baisalykov, stated that Air Astana expects the delivery of 4 long-range Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2026.Air Astana is the largest Kazakh air carrier, which includes the low-cost airline FlyArystan. The combined fleet of the airline (Air Astana and FlyArystan) consists of 62 Boeing and Airbus aircraft.In early 2024, it conducted an IPO, during which the company and its shareholders raised $370 million, and the entire company was valued at $847 million.According to the airline's website, Air Astana's shareholders are the state fund Samruk-Kazyna (41%), the subsidiary of the British BAE Systems plc - BAE Systems (Kazakhstan) Limited (6.85%), and the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (6.5%).
