Caspian Sunrise discovers oil at West Shalva site in KazakhstanCaspian Sunrise, a hydrocarbon exploration and production company, has reported positive exploration results at the West Shalva contract area in the Mangistau region.According to the company, Caspian Sunrise acquired the West Shalva contract area in October 2025 and began drilling a well with a planned depth of 3 km."A flow test was conducted on a 5-meter interval at a depth of approximately 2,250 meters, which showed oil with a high paraffin content (about 20%) and a pour point of +32 degrees Celsius," the company's press release states.The company intends to deepen the well to approximately 3,400 meters, where significant oil volumes could potentially be extracted from Triassic deposits. "However, if the deeper interval proves non-commercial, production from the 2,250-meter depth is planned," Caspian Sunrise notes.The West Shalva contract area covers approximately 25 square kilometers. It is located in the oil-producing Karakiyan district of the Mangistau region.Caspian Sunrise PLC is an oil and gas exploration and production company in Kazakhstan, founded in October 2006. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market in May 2007. The company is registered in London and also has an office in Almaty.
