Metlen Energy & Metals has announced a strategic agreement with Acciaieria Arvedi, a leading Italian steel producer, to support its inclusion in Italy's "Energy Release 2.0" mechanism. This initiative, managed by the Italian Energy Services Operator (GSE), aims to foster renewable energy usage among energy-intensive industries.Under the agreement, Metlen will supply approximately 2.4 TWh of energy to Arvedi, ensuring stable and competitive pricing crucial for the steelmaker's operations. To facilitate this, Metlen will develop and commission 170 MW of new solar photovoltaic capacity in Italy over the next three years. These projects will benefit from a fixed remuneration of €65/MWh guaranteed by the GSE.This collaboration highlights how major industrial players can cooperate to address high energy costs in Europe, combining Arvedi’s industrial needs with Metlen’s expertise in implementing complex renewable energy projects.
