DANANTARA SIGNALS US$5 BILLION AGRICULTURAL INVESTMENT PLAN WITH AUSTRALIA

Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, announced a major agricultural investment project with Australia worth IDR 84 trillion (US$5 billion), dubbed the “Johor Project.” Revealed at the 2026 Indonesia Economic Outlook forum, the initiative will focus on meat processing, fisheries, and broader agribusiness development. The partnership is expected to generate jobs, transfer knowledge, and strengthen Indonesia’s food industry through advanced technologies, export networks, and best practices. While its name references Malaysia’s Johor state, the project’s location has not been confirmed. Alongside the agricultural push, Danantara also listed a IDR 13.4 trillion (US$796.8 million) caustic soda plant, nicknamed “Cordova,” as part of its 2026 investment portfolio, tied to ongoing cooperation with Chandra Asri Group in Banten. The announcement follows a recent MoU with the Australian government to boost two-way investments in agribusiness, energy, and mining. Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/danantara-signals-5-billion-agricultural-investment-plan-with-australian-giant (ICE GIACARTA)
