The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), part of Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council, successfully launched the UAE's first fully homegrown hybrid-powered sounding rocket, marking a major milestone in the nation's space ambitions. The rocket reached an altitude of three kilometers before safely descending, validating its propulsion system, structural integrity and control architecture after years of development by UAE-based teams. Powered by a hybrid engine combining nitrous oxide and high-density polyethylene, the launch demonstrated a safer, cost-effective and environmentally responsible alternative to conventional systems. Designed, built and tested entirely within the UAE, the mission confirmed the country's end-to-end capability to manage the full launch lifecycle and sets the foundation for more advanced suborbital and higher-altitude missions, strengthening the UAE's position as an emerging regional leader in aerospace research and innovation.
