Kazakhstan aims to localize production of European, Canadian agricultural machinery brandsKazakhstan plans to localize production of agricultural machinery from European and Canadian brands this year, following the localization of the U.S. manufacturer John Deere, Kazakh Industry and Construction Minister Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said Tuesday."Last November, during the Kazakh president’s visit to the United States, a strategic agreement was signed with John Deere on localizing production of more than 3,000 agricultural vehicles and creating service centers. This year, partner brands from Europe and Canada are planned to join the localization effort following John Deere," Nagaspayev said at a government meeting.He noted that the agricultural machinery sector continues to show steady growth."Full-year growth reached 30.4%. Today, domestic manufacturers supply up to 90% of the domestic market. The country operates 10 plants producing tractors from 12 brands, as well as more than 20 enterprises manufacturing tractor-mounted and trailer equipment with a total capacity of up to 35,000 units per year," the minister said.In November 2025, Kazakhstan’s AgromashHolding KZ JSC and U.S.-based John Deere signed a $2.5 billion strategic partnership agreement during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Washington. The agreement provides for large-scale development of agricultural machinery production in Kazakhstan. Under the document, at least 3,000 John Deere agricultural machines will be assembled over five years at AgromashHolding KZ facilities.The partnership also includes plans to establish at least three maintenance and repair centers and develop a staff training system.
