INDONESIA TARGETS STRONGER SEAFOOD EXPORTS WITH 2026 STRATEGY
Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has rolled out a 2026 export strategy to help seafood businesses meet stricter U.S. and EU certification rules while boosting global competitiveness. The plan includes support for compliance with EU catch certificates, U.S. admissibility requirements, and negotiations for crab exports under NOAA’s Comparability Finding. KKP is also promoting sustainability and product quality through trade missions, international promotions, and business matchmaking events. Exporters are encouraged to take advantage of tariff-free access for processed tuna and skipjack under the Indonesia–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement starting Q2 2026, while talks continue with other regions to expand market access. Indonesia’s seafood exports reached US$6.27 billion in 2025, with the U.S. as the top destination at nearly US$2 billion, led by shrimp. The national fishery trade surplus rose to US$5.6 billion, underscoring the sector’s growing role in the country’s economy.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/404810/indonesia-targets-stronger-seafood-exports-with-2026-strategy (ICE GIACARTA)
