Kazatomprom plans to deliver large shipment of uranium concentrate to IndiaNational Atomic Company Kazatomprom intends to sell a large batch of uranium concentrate to India, the company said in a press release on Friday.The deal is to be approved by an absentee extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. However, the date of the meeting is yet to be announced.“Kazatomprom and the Directorate of Purchase & Stores of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India (DPS) have reached an agreement on the sale of natural uranium concentrates in the form of U3O8 to DPS through physical delivery to the Republic of India,” the press release says.The transaction value comprises 50% or more of the total book value of the company's assets. Kazakhstan’s legislation requires that the transaction be submitted for consideration of the shareholders.“The details of the proposed transaction, including pricing, volumes and delivery schedules, are confidential and cannot be disclosed due to commercial sensitivity. DPS also requests to keep the information on the terms of the transaction confidential,” the press release reads.National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC is the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and dual-use materials. Kazatomprom is controlled by Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC (62.99%) and Ministry of Finance (12.01%), the remaining 25% are in free float.In 2025, Kazatomprom boosted uranium output by 11% to 25,840 tonnes. In 2026, the company plans to produce 27,500-29,000 tonnes of uranium. (ICE ALMATY)
