A Lebanese olive oil producer from Deir Mimas won a fourth medal at the 2026 edition of the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), adding to previous awards received in 2022, 2023 and at the 2023 EVO-IOOC Italy competition. The award follows significant operational disruptions linked to the conflict in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the destruction of facilities and equipment and the loss of harvest capacity. In 2025, limited production resumed using equipment provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as well as borrowed and rented machinery, enabling the establishment ofnew production sites in the Marjayoun and Nabatieh districts.
