INDONESIA BOOSTS INDUSTRIAL COMPETITIVENESS THROUGH DRONE TECHNOLOGY

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry is aggressively driving the adoption of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to enhance industrial efficiency and national economic competitiveness. Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, highlighted that drones have become essential across sectors like agriculture, mining, and logistics for accurate mapping and field supervision. To support this, the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Multivarious Industries (IKMA) is currently mentoring 24 drone service startups, providing them with technical capacity building, Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification, and ISO 9001 facilitation to ensure their hardware and software solutions are market-ready. Beyond domestic growth, the Ministry is actively expanding the market reach of these drone SMEs through international collaborations and major exhibitions like the Manufacturing Indonesia Series. These initiatives have allowed local startups to network with strategic partners, explore technology applications in manufacturing, and even initiate market expansion into BRICS countries such as South Africa. By fostering these tech-based small industries, the government aims to create a robust industrial ecosystem where advanced drone technology is accessible to both large corporations and smaller enterprises alike.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2208180/indonesia-boosts-industrial-competitiveness-through-drone-technology (ICE GIACARTA)
