INDONESIA DRAFTS PLAN TO SAFEGUARD HALAL IMPORTS

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry is drafting a new strategy to ensure that imported raw materials, which currently account for 70% of manufacturing inputs, comply with national halal standards. To protect the domestic halal ecosystem, the government is implementing a "backward and forward linkage" approach to trace complex global supply chains and ensure accountability from upstream to downstream. Under the 2025–2029 halal industry development roadmap (Regulation No. 40/2025), the ministry will harmonize international standards and coordinate with the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). Key initiatives include expanding halal logistics, upgrading information platforms, and providing incentives within designated halal industrial zones to eventually reduce import dependency through domestic substitution.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/405918/indonesia-drafts-plan-to-safeguard-halal-imports (ICE GIACARTA)
