INDONESIA CALLS ON EU TO IMPLEMENT WTO RULING IN PALM OIL DISPUTE

Indonesia has urged the European Union to promptly implement the WTO Panel ruling in the DS593 palm oil dispute, as the EU’s 12‑month deadline to correct discriminatory policies expired on February 24. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Indonesia will closely monitor adjustments to EU regulations—especially those under the Renewable Energy Directive II (RED II)—to ensure they comply with WTO provisions and restore fair market access for Indonesian palm oil. Following the end of the implementation period, Indonesia plans a comprehensive assessment of the EU’s revised policies, methodologies, and their trade impacts. The WTO ruling issued on January 10, 2025, concluded that the EU’s treatment of Indonesian palm‑oil‑based biofuels violated WTO non-discrimination principles. At a WTO meeting on January 27, 2026, the EU acknowledged that its compliance measures were still incomplete.Source: https://en.vietnamplus.vn/indonesia-calls-on-eu-to-implement-wto-ruling-in-palm-oil-dispute-post338286.vnp (ICE GIACARTA)
