Kazakh government allocates $2.2 mln for Caspian Sea research, preservationThe Kazakh government has allocated 1.1 billion tenge from its reserves for a comprehensive study and preservation of the Caspian Sea, the Cabinet of Ministers' press service announced Monday.The funds have been directed to Kazakh Research Institute of Caspian Sea JSC. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov signed the corresponding decree on Tuesday."The funds are intended for the purchase of equipment for conducting marine monitoring, as well as equipping hydrobiological and hydrochemical laboratories. This will allow the research institute to transition to comprehensive monitoring directly in the sea's waters, including systematic observations of hydrometeorological and biological environmental parameters, and to expand the scientifically-based knowledge base about processes in the Kazakh sector of the sea," the statement said.The institute is integrating into the international scientific community and has joined the Association of Universities and Research Centers of Caspian Countries, according to the statement.
