Kuala Lumpur, 11 February 2026 – Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has launched its first pilot for ringgit tokenised deposits and cross-border payments using blockchain technology under its ROAR30 initiative, testing digital ringgit deposits on a permissioned blockchain to enable secure, near real-time transactions, including with other Asean deposit tokens. The pilot, conducted under the supervision of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Digital Asset Innovation Hub (DAIH), includes Yinson Holdings Bhd as its first participant. Maybank said the initiative aims to modernise payment infrastructure while supporting its ambitions in Islamic finance, wealth management and transaction banking, with potential benefits such as faster settlement, improved working capital management and lower FX costs.
