INDONESIA SETS LOWER COPPER EXPORT BENCHMARK PRICE FOR EARLY MARCH 2026
The Indonesian Trade Ministry has lowered the export benchmark price for copper concentrate to US$6,684.18 per wet metric ton (WMT) for the period of March 1–14, 2026. This represents a 0.12 percent decrease from the price set during the second half of February. According to the ministry’s Director General of Foreign Trade, Tommy Andana, the slight decline was primarily driven by global profit-taking and a strengthening US dollar as international copper prices entered a consolidation phase. The ministry issued the policy under Trade Minister Decree No. 375/2026 on export benchmark prices and reference prices for mining products subject to export duty. The decree was signed on February 27, 2026, and applies to the first half of March. While copper and silver prices saw downward corrections during the calculation period, gold prices rose by 1.31 percent due to increased demand for safe-haven assets amid global economic challenges. The Indonesian government determines these benchmark prices based on technical recommendations from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and international market data from the London Metal Exchange and London Bullion Market Association. This pricing coordination involves multiple agencies, including the Finance and Industry Ministries, to regulate export duties for mining products.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2224794/indonesia-sets-lower-copper-export-benchmark-price-for-early-march-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
