INDONESIA’S FEB 2026 MANUFACTURING PMI HITS 23-MONTH HIGH AT 53.8

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector surged to a 23-month high in February 2026, with the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) rising to 53.8. This robust expansion was primarily fueled by a broad-based recovery in demand, marking the first increase in export orders in six months and the strongest domestic order growth since late 2025. Consequently, manufacturers ramped up production at the fastest pace in nearly two years, leading to a significant hike in employment and strategic inventory building to prepare for future sales. Despite the operational boom, the industry continues to grapple with persistent input cost inflation driven by rising raw material prices. While the rate of cost increases hit a six-month low, manufacturers maintained modest price hikes to remain competitive. Although long-term business optimism dipped slightly below historical averages in February, the overall outlook remains positive, supported by expectations of stabilizing prices and sustained market demand over the next 12 months.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20260302/257/1956802/pmi-manufaktur-ri-melesat-ke-538-pada-februari-2026-tertinggi-dalam-23-bulan (ICE GIACARTA)
