INDONESIA TARGETS FIRST NUCLEAR POWER PLANT BY 2034 USING SMR TECHNOLOGY
Indonesia aims to operate its first nuclear power plant (PLTN) between 2032 and 2034, targeting a total capacity of 44 GW by 2060 to achieve net-zero emissions. DEN Secretary General Dadan Kusdiana highlighted Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology as the ideal flexible solution for Indonesia's archipelagic geography. While facing financial and public perception challenges, the government is prioritizing the formation of a Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO). This strategy aligns with regional ASEAN cooperation to transition from fossil fuels, with nuclear eventually comprising over 11% of the national energy mix.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5450391/den-pembangkit-nuklir-pertama-ditargetkan-beroperasi-2032-2034 (ICE GIACARTA)
