Air Astana finalizes deal for 25 Airbus A320neosAir Astana has concluded a contract to acquire 25 Airbus A320neo aircraft, the company confirmed to Interfax-Kazakhstan on Monday.The national carrier announced the deal in a disclosure posted on the website of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE).Air Astana’s press service said that the deal has been finalized and the contract for the delivery of aircraft has been signed.On February 10 of this year, the extraordinary general meeting of Air Astana shareholders approved the acquisition of five (5) firm Airbus A320N type aircraft and twenty (20) firm A321NX type aircraft with deliveries scheduled for 2031-2034, with secured purchase rights for twenty five (25) additional Airbus A320neo family aircraft.A memorandum of understanding for the delivery of up to fifty (50) Airbus A320neo family aircraft (25 firm orders and 25 options) as part of a fleet renewal program was signed in November 2025. It was noted that this is the largest order in the airline's history.In November 2025, Air Astana announced the signing of a contract with Boeing Co. for the delivery of up to fifteen (15) Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline's Senior Vice President, Yerbolat Baisalykov, stated that Air Astana expects the delivery of four long-range Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the 4th quarter of 2026.Air Astana is the largest Kazakh air carrier, which includes the low-cost airline FlyArystan. The combined fleet of the airline (Air Astana and FlyArystan) consists of 62 Boeing and Airbus aircraft.In early 2024, it conducted an IPO, during which the company and its shareholders raised $370 million, and the entire company was valued at $847 million.According to the airline's website, Air Astana's shareholders are the state fund Samruk-Kazyna (41%), the subsidiary of the British BAE Systems plc - BAE Systems (Kazakhstan) Limited (6.85%), and the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (6.5%).
