INDONESIA REINFORCES POSITION AS GLOBAL COCOA GRINDING HUB

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector grew strongly in 2025, expanding 5.30 percent—higher than national economic growth of 5.11 percent. Data from BPS showed the processing industry remained resilient, with the agro‑industry continuing as the backbone of non‑oil and gas manufacturing. Indonesia's Minister of Industry,Agus Gumiwang, highlighted that agro‑industry contributed 52.09 percent to non‑oil and gas manufacturing GDP as of December 2025, underscoring its strategic role in strengthening national industrial structure. Improved domestic cocoa bean supply in 2025 helped boost cocoa grinding by 4.43 percent to 422,176 tons, generating USD 3.42 billion in foreign exchange and meeting 8.46 percent of global processed cocoa demand. The government continues to enhance agro‑industry competitiveness, including cocoa processing, amid global supply disruptions in 2024. Policy developments—such as the postponed implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation and U.S. zero‑tariff access—provide additional room for expansion. Indonesia is set to host the 9th Indonesia International Cocoa Conference in July 2026.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2235184/indonesia-reinforces-position-as-global-cocoa-grinding-hub (ICE GIACARTA)
