EDB to open tenge credit line worth $100 mln for KcellThe Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Kcell JSC have signed a tenge loan agreement equivalent to up to $100 million to finance digital transformation projects in Kazakhstan."The agreement supports the development of the national digital infrastructure and contributes to the growth of the digital economy and business," the statement said.The funds will be used to expand mobile network coverage and introduce high-speed internet in urban and rural areas.The EDB noted that the financing will allow the operator to accelerate the implementation of its investment program and the introduction of modern technological solutions.The loan is provided in the national currency, which reduces currency risks for the borrower.Kcell JSC (with Kcell and Activ brands) is a Kazakhstani operator providing digital telecommunication services: mobile communications and converged fixed-line services (FMC), data transmission and internet access, financial services, digital services and mobile applications. Kcell is part of the Kazakhtelecom JSC group of companies.The Eurasian Development Bank is a multilateral development bank operating in Eurasia. By the end of 2025, the EDB's accumulated portfolio included 326 projects with a total investment of $19.6 billion. The majority of the EDB's portfolio consists of projects with integration effects in the areas of transport infrastructure, digital systems, green energy, agriculture, industry and mechanical engineering.
