INDONESIA'S MINISTRY OFFERS 10 NEW OIL & GAS BLOCKS TO INVESTORS

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia (ESDM) has opened 10 new potential oil and gas block areas—Rupat, Puri, Karapan Baru, Pesut Mahakam, Bengara II, Maratua II, South Matindok, Lao‑lao, Rombebai, and Northern Papua/Jayapura—after completing detailed studies validated by the Geological Agency and LEMIGAS. According to Director General Laode Sulaeman, this initiative aims to attract more upstream investment by improving data quality and offering more competitive fiscal terms. These incentives include more favorable profit‑sharing of up to 50% for contractors (up from 15–30%), options between cost‑recovery or gross‑split contracts, production‑optimizing incentives, and indirect tax exemptions during exploration. The government has also strengthened its role by helping accelerate permitting, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and conducting state‑funded seismic exploration to lower investor risks. Interested investors can submit proposals through direct offers or regular auctions between April 1–10, 2026. To support participation, the Directorate General is providing coaching for proposal preparation until April 1 and offering full data access for all 10 areas through the LEMIGAS Data Room until April 10. The initiative reflects Minister Bahlil Lahadalia’s directive to expand opportunities for capable oil and gas companies and enhance Indonesia’s upstream investment climate.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20260305/44/1958021/esdm-tawarkan-10-area-blok-migas-baru-ke-investor  (ICE GIACARTA)
