Kazakhstan rejects ban on imported railway componentsThe Kazakh government has decided against banning imports of railway rolling stock components and track elements from third countries."A proposal to restrict such imports was deemed impractical," the prime minister's press service said following a Friday meeting of the commission on foreign trade.During the discussion, officials heard from domestic component manufacturers, locomotive producers and end-users, including national railway carrier Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, before reaching the decision.Although the import ban was rejected, the government has instructed Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to prioritize purchases of railway components and track elements from domestic manufacturers.
