AQABA PORTS AUTHORITY: STRAIT OF HORMUZ CLOSURE WILL NOT DIRECTLY AFFECT PORT OP

The Director of Operations and Docks at the Aqaba Ports Management and Operation Company, Mohammad Halawi, said five ships carrying various cargo—including cars, machinery, timber, coal, grains such as wheat, and calves—are currently docked at the Port of Aqaba. Halawi told Al-Mamlaka TV that operations at the port are proceeding normally and that unloading is taking place on schedule and in line with safety standards. He added that the port maintains a strategic reserve of key goods, particularly grains. A wheat shipment is currently being unloaded at berth No. 9 into Aqaba’s silos, which have a storage capacity of 200,000 tons of wheat and barley, while another ship carrying 60,000 tons of barley is waiting to be unloaded.
