UKRAINE: RISING IMPORTS OF BAKERY AND BISCUIT PRODUCTS IN EARLY 2026
In January–February 2026, Ukraine imported €22.34 million worth of bakery, pastry, and biscuit products, an 8.13% increase compared to the same period in 2025.Poland remained the leading supplier, with exports totaling €7.52 million and a 33.65% market share, showing modest growth of 2.26%. Bulgaria surged to second place, expanding exports by 62.76% to €2.04 million and capturing 9.15% of the market. The Netherlands followed closely with €1.83 million (8.21%), while Romania supplied €1.70 million (7.62%).Germany, which had been a major supplier in 2025, saw a sharp decline of 27.52%, dropping to €1.68 million (7.51%). Italy maintained steady growth, with exports rising 9.52% to €1.40 million, securing a 6.27% market share.Other notable developments included:- Turkey increasing exports by 67.73% to €1.04 million (4.63%).- Lithuania growing by 53.41% to €880,724 (3.94%).- Spain rising slightly to €686,595 (3.07%).- Slovenia expanding by 50.1% to €295,857 (1.32%).- Japan making a remarkable entry with €139,033, up 541.01% compared to 2025.Meanwhile, some traditional suppliers such as the Czech Republic, the UK, and Austria recorded declines, while new entrants like India, Macedonia, and Indonesia showed rapid percentage growth from smaller bases.Ukraine’s biscuit and pastry import market is diversifying, with Poland holding its lead, Bulgaria and Turkey gaining momentum, and Italy steadily reinforcing its position among the top suppliers.
