MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT HAS LITTLE IMPACT ON INDONESIA'S AGRO INDUSTRY

The Indonesia's Ministry of Industry stated that the ongoing Middle East conflict has not significantly impacted Indonesia’s national agro‑industry. Most raw materials for the sector are sourced domestically or from countries outside the conflict zone, such as Australia, Thailand, and Latin American nations for industrial sugar. Additional imported raw materials had also arrived before the conflict escalated. However, the ministry noted that global geopolitical tensions could still indirectly affect the industry—mainly through rising transportation and logistics costs. To manage potential risks, the government is closely monitoring global developments and preparing alternative measures to maintain supply chain stability. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang emphasized that the Middle East conflict could lead to volatility in global energy prices, disrupt international trade routes, and increase logistics and raw material costs. A major concern is the possibility of disruption to global oil distribution should the Strait of Hormuz—through which around one‑fifth of global oil supply passes—be affected by escalating tensions.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/407731/middle-east-conflict-has-little-impact-on-agro-industry-ministry (ICE GIACARTA)
