Kazakhstan moves to support dairy processors, bakeries in price stabilization bidKazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration has proposed introducing a support mechanism for dairy producers and bakery enterprises as part of efforts to curb rising food prices, the government's press service said.On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin chaired a government meeting that discussed inflation and staples prices.The meeting noted increasing dairy costs driven by rising raw milk prices, higher energy costs and higher production expenses. Dairy products account for approximately 6.3% of food inflation."The Ministry of Trade and Integration proposed introducing support mechanisms for milk processing enterprises. The meeting also proposed measures to support the baking industry, particularly providing enterprises with subsidized grain and flour and negotiating lower transportation tariffs with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy [the national railway carrier]," the statement said.Zhumangarin instructed officials to conduct a detailed analysis of pricing patterns at the country's 42 dairy processing enterprises to develop optimal support mechanisms for producers of socially significant food products.Government data showed inflation slowing for the fifth consecutive month, from 12.9% in September 2025 to 11.7% in February 2026.
